A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
The thing is, there are so many other avenues to encourage illegal immigrants to self-deport: debanking, taxing remittances, fining employers, and cutting off welfare benefits. But every Republican interest group won’t let this happen. The banks need the remittance income, and large employers and farmers love the cheap illegal labor. Pundits claim it’s anyone’s guess what the Supreme Court will do on birthright citizenship, but it’s pretty clear from the arguments before the Court that they’re going to rule in Trump’s favor—then punt the whole issue to Congress to decide the issue via legislation the granting of citizenship.
