Slain college student’s mother vows ‘fight for justice’ after illegal immigrant charged in Chicago killing – Fox News

I want to say this gently, but honestly, as a mom. I'm angry," Jessica Gorman said. "I'm like completely heartbroken, and we are going to fight for justice for our sweet Sheridan, and we're going to fight for change." At the vigil, the family’s attorney, Thomas Tripodianos, warned against what he described as growing complacency about public safety. "If we accept this, even silently, then we are accepting a reality where young people are not as safe as they should be. And that is not acceptable," Tripodianos said. "And there must be justice. Real justice."

I’m sorry but there is no justice in Illinois. Just corruption.

I pray the Gorman’s are successful – $$$ is all Loyola, the Archdiocese, and corrupt Democrats really understand.

Don’t understand what responsibility Loyola and archdiocese have. Should they have locked her in the dorm or built a wall around the campus? When I lived there, the university warned about the neighborhood, especially west of Sheridan Road. But, I was young and naive and believed in people’s goodness. Many students there have off campus apartments. How can the university protect them?

I wish the Gormans and all the Angel families could sue the government, city, state or federal in some way and lose big. It may wake the all of them up to the fact it is their responsibility to safeguard against the criminals they allow in

Bottom line is this illegal scum bag should have not been in the US/Chicago.

Dems own this and they will pay for letting all of these illegals bum rush our southern border for 3 years under Pudding Brain JoeyB.

Blaming a gun is a red herring IMO!!

the killings will continue regardless of immigration enforcement because the problem is that there are far too many guns legally available.

The Truth cannot be acknowledged. There’s another “more gun laws needed” editorial in today’s online version of Chicago Trib.

Uh huh…This stupid crap again…do you think the Animal who killed Sheridan got his gun legally? Nope. According to his defense attorney has a child’s brain capacity…but somehow…gosh, figured out how to get a gun. Criminals will always find a way to have a gun. Gun laws only impact Law Abiding Citizens….because it is the Law Abiding Citizen who plays by the rule of law. Criminals and illegal immigrant animals do not. Your argument is stupid.

Blagoevich – again – I get it – Blagoevich – suggests that the alleged perp committed the murder as part of a gang initiation and that the police and authorities will go to great lengths to obscure this fact. Now, Blagoevich doesn’t appear to have evidence for this. But if his intuition is correct, this incident, already politically flammable, will become a powder keg of explosives, I know Wirepoints avoids speculation and I caveat this as Blagoevich’s public musings. But he does know the criminal justice scene,

I walked out on that pier at Loyola Park Beach a hundred times during my years in Rogers Park; it has a very nice view across the lake to downtown.   And while we’re speculating . . . . One thing about the alleged shooter of Sheridan Gorman puzzled me from the start. If, as an illegal migrant, crime had perhaps become a means of support, why was his “rap sheet” so short? Reports were that he had been charged with stealing $132.50 worth of merchandise from State Street Macy’s in 2023. A lot of the gangbangers who flooded into… Read more »

Record? Seriously? Please refresh your memory on current retail theft arrests, meaning most Chicago shoplifters aren’t apprehended, aren’t arrested, can commit serial shoplifting on a daily basis with little risk of criminal prosecution beyond a couple hours in lock-up a couple times a year. Have you not personally witnessed a shoplifter swarm at a Chicago big box retailer, stealing armloads of merchandise in full view of store cashiers and manager?

Suspect the so-called gun-related damage to this murderer’s noggin is no more than cosmetic.

The killing at U of I involved an illegal driving a car DUI. The common denominator here is the “illegal” not the gun or the car.

Illegal immigrants cannot legally own guns, so he possessed it illegally (because, duh, he can’t legally own one). Paradoxically, the solution to too many guns is even more guns. Armed bystanders act as a powerful deterrent to criminals looking to commit crimes.

It’s not the gun, it’s the person holding it.

Agree – if Sheridan had a way to defend herself, she would still be here.

Too hard a job for the democrats to go after ILLEGAL GUN OWNERSHIP by criminals.
They wouldn’t even let ICE do it. Illinois, laws made by criminals for criminals.
Good for the legal gun owners who protect themselves against the bottom of humanity

Progressive-liberals believe “illegal gun ownership” is a constitutional right for oppressed people of color, more “reparations” of sort for “social injustice” and “racism”. Just like their elitist assumptions that “poor minority folks” can’t obtain the proper physical identification documents to vote in elections, there’s this corollary assumption same “poor minority folks” don’t have proper identification to legally purchase and register their firearms.

I keep waiting for one of my weapons to commit a crime. It never happens.

It ain’t the gun, princess.

Pfft. Most gun-crimes are committed by felons, or at least folks with rap-sheets, with guns obtained by “non-official channels” not requiring payment of sales tax or display of gun-registration paperwork. State of Illinois can impose as many additional Gun Law restrictions as progressive-liberals can manage to conceive, but will still realize zip-zero affect on gun-crime rates here in Chicago.
