Palatine school district allegedly used tax dollars for referendum campaign – The Black Chronicle

The complaint seeks an investigation into whether Palatine-based Community Consolidated School District 15, Superintendent Laurie Heinz, along with district-paid consultants engaged in prohibited political activity, election interference, official misconduct or misuse of public resources in connection with a $93 million bond referendum in November 2022.

The hundred million dollar bond referendums all around Chicagoland that never seem to lose…People scream about high property taxes, but then, in a March municipal election, with less than 20% turnout, 66% of those who voted sail the referendum through easily. And then 18 months later, everyone is screaming that their real tax bill is $1,000 higher. Everyone likes to blame the voter for being uninformed and not caring, but maybe there’s more to this. If this turns out to be true, the superintendent should be terminated without severance, and be required to reimburse the school district (ie. the taxpayers) for the amount of payments made for prohibited activity.
