James and others frustrated by paywalls: Here’s why we do post them, though we try to limit their number: When we see a good, significant or unique article that is behind a paywall, we link to it anyway, and mark it with an asterisk. Most paywalled sources like Tribune, do give you a number of free looks per month. Short of that, we think it’s important on some articles to at least see the headline and the short segment we provide. At least the asterisk warns readers. There is usually enough sentences to give you the gist of the article.
