Chicago recorded the highest number of homicides among major U.S. cities from January through April, with 98 killings. Oakland was next with 67.

I think that anyone riding public transportation or reading CWB or SCC ( in lieu of getting an accurate description of what is happening in CHI from the local media ) can figure out that the “ crime is down “ mantra is an illusion. The effort to turn felonies into misdemeanors or flat out ignore crime begun with the Lightfoot/ Foxx cabal continues full steam ahead.
