Chicago’s population is declining, but it’s still the nation’s third most populous city, new census data shows – Chicago Tribune/MSN

More broadly, Chicago is part of a regional trend driven by nationwide forces — a general migration, led by retiring Baby Boomers and young job seekers, from the Midwest to warmer, cheaper and economically growing areas in the South. Many relatively wealthy and low-crime suburbs, for instance, from Country Club Hills to Arlington Heights to Evanston and Winnetka, lost comparable percentages of population, if not more. “This is not a Chicago story, it’s an Illinois story and a Midwest story,” said Rob Paral, senior research specialist at the Great Cities Institute of the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Here’s an article from Mercola about Chicago crime. Mercola’s articles can only be up for 48 hoursthen he takes them down so try to save on hard drive or whatever is easy. Bookmarks also disappear.

I was able to download the PDF. All this stuff maybe true, but regarding the soft-on-crime prosecutors, the simplest answer is usually the most correct. Minority communities really like progressive prosecutors. They are wildly popular. They easily win election. We see their policies as failures because crime increases. The minority communities see these policies as successful because fewer members of their tribe go to jail. The problem is fixable only in red states with legislatures that go after progressive prosecutors in blue areas. But it’s like whack a mole, they get rid of one prosecutor, and an even worse one… Read more »

Of course residents from the wealthier suburbs are leaving. They either work for companies that have fled Chicago or they simply see the direction the state is taking and they’re getting out before the value of their homes have completely tanked.

As for Chicago still being #3 in population, that’s not something to brag about unless the majority of residents are legal and in the higher tax brackets.

When president Trump revised the tax code eliminating the complete deduction of State taxes, it affected many very wealthy people in Cook County. Like our Governor, they de-camped to their properties in Florida or other low tax states.

The Fibune is comparing apples to oranges. More affluent productive taxpaying people are moving out and illegal aliens are moving in.

Add 10 years and we’ll look just like Detroit.

Absurd article. “It’s a midwest thing” related to “immigration and fertility”. Tell that to TN and WI and IN and MO all with growing populations. These people just lie and lie to fit the narrative they think they need to push. This is like peeing on my leg and telling me that it’s raining. My most recently extended relatives who left Chicago – lifelong residents – now live MO, and a closer relative moved last year to WI. We’re all fleeing the Fat Man Bad’s destruction.
