Careful here folks. Your typical homeowner in Bowmanville is at least half way to being a “millionaire.”

I suppose if I moved to a trailer park the taxman would forget about me for a while…

This will help real estate prices to come down as the market floods with inventory from people finally realizing that Illinois, and Crook County in particular, are lost.

Don’t think so. Those pensions have been earned and those pensions wont be going anywhere. All you union and pension haters can all cry together and hold each other to deal with it.

Sorry pal but you are only against it because you know the voters would vote for reform. Eventually your unfunded pension liabilites will be so high that the pension funds will have to using current contributions to pay pensions, then the pensions will start liquidating investments to meet current obligations and then the funds will be past the point of no return. Pension funds go insolvent. So you and your union buddies can all go down to the local bar and drink those tear filled beers.

If that’s the case then you have no need to call for reform. That won’t be happening Tommy Boy. Instead we will just increase taxes on you pal. If your property taxes get so high you can just sell your home. The world needs renters too. Come down to the local watering hole. Maybe a pensioner will pity you and buy you a cold one.

LOL!!!!!!!!! Here is the kicker pal, when I retire I will move to another state that is tax friendly where I already have a house that will be paid off, buy another house in a warmer climate state that is tax friendly and have no mortgage for the winter months and on top of it all, I will be collecting a pension from an Illinois pension fund. You and your union buddies can enjoy the tax increases and loss of purchasing power as your COLAs don’t keep up with inflation and the taxes.

Union Stonf -I can easily see why you conclude pensions are legally and politically very protected. But I just read Mary Pat Campbell’s long analytic piece on Chicago pensions. Unlike most of us she is an actuary. What if the 25 percent funded police or fire funds go asset less and payouts must be made on a a pay as you go basis? Even a 20 percent property tax increase (governance wise the easiest tax to raise) would not suffice to service pay as you go payments. The domino effect would be tremendous as other funds would begin to precipitously… Read more »

Once again, a little bit of knowledge is dangerous in your case. Your afraid to let the voters decide on fair maps being made part of the Illinois Constitution. Mentally weak low rent liberal disorder.

The voters already decided by electing politicians that carved out the current maps. You just didn’t like the outcome. The maps are fine with me. Feel free to cry about it if you don’t like them. Most of us, aka the majority, are quite happy.

You keep licking those corporate boots while me and my union brothers will keep cashing them checks.

Wrong again zippy, you keep being that frog in the pot of water that has the temperatire slowly increased until your are boiling. You have no clue that your union has actually kept your wages down.

Ahhh, the tyrrany of the masses to employ class warfare. Why would any reasonable person give more money to the idiots in Springfield who have created the financial problems in this state? You know why real estate taxes are so high? Because of public education. About 70% of a tax bill is for public schools and 70% of that is salaries and benefits. When Governor Happy Meal tells you that the budget is balanced, it is a lie. First of all they are not making the pension payments according to the actuarial calculation. Second of all they play loose with… Read more »

In Crook County, this piece of insanity may actually pass. But Illinois needs a millionaire tax like Custer needed more Indians.
