Treasurer Maria Pappas’ office last week estimated it was holding on to $52 million in tax refunds owed to roughly 22,000 taxpayers and $192 million in property tax payments that cannot be distributed to the county’s taxing bodies because of the holdup.
The county has a Bureau of Technology, but Preckwinkle’s report does not list it as having any responsibilities? This seems to be a major project, yet not involved? What is this Bureau for Toni? Maybe your family members no-show jobs program?

It is DEI all over it. Nice folks. Trying hard. Just too big of a project with such complexities that they could not handle it. Other professionals in the same line of work have been saying for years that their process was not up to snuff. Now, the overruns, the delay and the embarrassment shows up. This is a great example of the cruel hoax of affirmative action– place people in assignments they don’t have the skills to succeed in. I’m sure many people share in the blame for this disaster but based on this, I’d say Preckwinkle leads the pack.

This remains pretty typical for large government ERP system implementation, although this appears to be only the Accounting/Financial modules being implemented. As usual, the County Treasurers office has not provided the vendor the information needed to proceed and the vendor can’t afford to have dozens of their implementation people standing around waiting for the County to get around to providing the information. So they are assigned to other customer projects that are moving forward. Then when the County decides its good and ready and provides the needed information, the vendor has to reshuffle their staff and it all takes time.… Read more »

If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
