The bad news about catch and release of criminals in Illinois is now just a trickle, wait until it becomes a flood.

Think it’s bad now? Just wait until the next bad recession. Out of nowhere, when these people have no money, they’ll start building shantytown, Brandonvilles and favelas everywhere, run by warlords. There will be enormous public pressure to shut them down, and enormous political pressure to let them be. This is going to be a complete disaster.

Walk or drive the streets of the city at your own peril.

Sad. I recall riding the “el” and buses without a second thought … and driving around the city never concerned about becoming a victim.

No more. With no bail the jerk who accosted you today could be the same jerk who assaults you tomorrow.

How on earth is this “social justice?”

Stupid chickens!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
