"You offered a job without knowing if you could sustain that job for years to come," former Harvey firefighter Preston Jackson said. He was one of about 20 Harvey firefighters to be let go during a partial government shutdown that began in October.

Do you mean like the myriad of workers in the private sector? Most of us understand that such uncertainty is part of working for a living.

This will happen all over the state sooner or later. Pension costs are growing like cancer and cannot be stopped now.

Sorry Preston, but you should think twice about taking a job dependent on tax dollars in an area with a history of crooked politicians that are less than financially transparent and populated by people with a history of having trouble paying their bills without government assistance and “ guaranteed incomes “.
