Just like Russia, their is only one thing ILL politicians pay attention to–money and power. They will never release voluntarily.
Two options: (1) continue out migration to bring the entire situation to a head which forces national politicians to come in and clean up the mess or (2) non public union taxpayers fund a massive political action committee, at a scale x times public unions, and hire someone like Rahm Emanuel, at a salary of like $500MM per year, to run it like a Bulldog.
I already decided on option 1. No regrets.
Ted and Jeanne, I read about the delinquent properties, especially in the city and County of Cook. They got into all this apologist stuff about red lining and racist lending policies, white flight and black flight. Im more interested in revitalizing the city and the county and seeing as we’ve got a housing crunch, these empty lots and building seem like a jobs and housing program opportunity to give residents a stake In the community.
