Illinoisans can’t afford to see Chicago fall into crisis…it would take the rest of the state with it. – Wirepoints on with Jeff Daly of WZUS Decatur Radio

Ted joined Jeff Daly of WZUS Decatur to talk about the results of Chicago’s mayoral election and why it matters to downstate Illinoisans, why residents chose the extreme progressive policies of Brandon Johnson, the dismal results found in Wirepoints’ school district Report Cards, why Gov. Chicago SHOULD immediately file for bankruptcy like Detroit, STOP DIGGING!

I’m sure election fraud helped the radical, far left candidate beat the less radical and far left candidate for Chicago mayor. I support splitting Chicago off from the rest of Illinois. This would solve the problem of Illinois being a geographically conservative state controlled by a large liberal city. I also support the possibility of counties breaking away from Illinois and joining other states. They don’t even have to be contiguous to the state that they join. The fact that Maine was once part of Massachusetts provides historical proof that a given state can have non-contiguous territory. This fact would… Read more »

The rest of Illinois — outside Chicago and Democrat suburbs could care less about Chicago. They can form a new state that dumps the debt disaster created by Cook County Corruptocrats. Or they can join a neighboring state not run by the union goon racketeers.

Nobody cares anymore. Just get out as soon as you can. The sh!thole known as Chicago isn’t going to ever return to a functioning city. Stop trying, stop caring and just get out already. Watch from a distance.

If only people here would act upon this simple advice (leave asap) which is often repeated by myself, Indy, and others. Not once have I seen a comment here about leaving being a mistake.

Ever hear of the power of bias confirmation? In general, people are prone to think they are smarter than most others and to induce others to make similar life decisions. When that’s favorably received—or better yet—acted upon to the point of fulfillment it allows self-congratulation to occur for the advice given. It’s a well-known and widely-used psychological tendency at play. I’m not at all trying to condemn you here but simply stating the good vibes you are seeking somewhat inadvertently, perhaps. I have no opinion to the contrary on your posting.

How many people have fled the war in Ukraine over the past 14 months.
Do not as an American sit there and say *I can’t move out of Chicago or Illinois due to blah blah excuse* because the rest of the world rolls their eyes at that notion.
If nearly 10 MILLION Ukrainians can flee their war torn country then you can leave Chicago & Illinois.

Even farmers are leaving Illinois for greener pastures and that says it all.

He’s going to run it off the rails as fast as he can then demand Springfield and Washington rescue the city.

How or where is irrelevant. If they don’t save Chicago then it’s obviously their fault. Anyone who doesn’t contribute is a racist! See how that works? Heads I win, tails you lose.

“Illinois can’t afford to see Chicago fall into crisis…” Too late, what’s done is done. We’re all screwed because of some individuals who don’t know why or who they are voting for. The rest of the state will suffer the consequences of their horrible, ignorant choices. Are they going to pay up when the sh!t hits the fan, NO, I am.

I am sick of hearing that excuse. Let Chicago
Fail we will all be better off
Let the criminal elements take it with a thank you from the suburbs. The criminals try it in the burbs it’s time to load and lock

100% for sure the Chitty is going to fail. Overly generous pensions are eating up all the revenues and increasing taxes does not keep up with the growth of the payouts.
Destine to fail, the system is unsustainable. DOA cast in stone by the greed of government workers. Kiss it goodbye.

There are no gas stations in Cairo IL and very few in the “little Egypt” area in the far south is IL. Ask any Chicagoan who drives where they buy their gas and 7 of ten will say the Suburbs. Fortunate ones can get into Indiana where I filled up for $3.29. Point is, Illinois is already in crisis.

Wisconsin is always $0.30 to $0.70 cents a gallon cheaper and worth 5 minutes of drive time.

The whole economy of West Alton, MO is based on selling gas, cigarettes, alcohol, and fireworks to Illinoisans.  The entire economy of West Alton exists solely because of the high taxes and nanny state laws of Illinois.  Every state level politician in Illinois should be mandated to take a trip to West Alton as West Alton is the physical manifestation of their terrible policies. The economy of West Alton only exists due to people fleeing and bypassing the onerous taxes and nanny state laws of Illinois. If the taxes and nanny state laws of Illinois and Missouri were equal, West… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
