In Chicago, the problem is abuse of homestead and other exemptions as well as vacant commercial storefront leeway. I’m amazed the socialists haven’t built their entire campaigns around this. The records are public. There’s no penalty or enforcement. The yearly damage is in the billions and this is partly why your rent goes up.

Question for what it’s worth Pritzker how come other states can manage it with Property Tax caps any input.
Hard to take Pritzker seriously when he doesn’t even attempt fiscal responsibility. Consolidate high paying administration jobs at schools. Close some underused libraries. And not sure what we are paying for in parks. Anytime we need improvements it is just another tax referendum anyway. There is no end to spending. The only good news out of this is that people are finally questioning the states taxes.
Property caps would also require state spending caps or OMG spending CUTS!
