SNAP benefits will restart, but will be half the normal payment and delayed – NPR Illinois

The decision comes after two federal judges ruled that freezing payments for the country's biggest anti-hunger program is unlawful, even as the money ran out this weekend for the 42 million people who rely on SNAP to put food on the table.

Just like voter rolls, there needs to be a review of who is getting government handouts and SNAP is a six headed monster that is ripe for abuse. Federal law bans illegals from receiving benefits, but they can be included in determining a need for household aid. So even integrity-challenged Axios says 500K illegals are in Illinois, and including one illegal in a household with benefits could increase that payment by $200/mo or more if included in that household. That adds up to potentially $100 MILLION for the illegals – each month – in Illinois alone. This amount is suffocating… Read more »

Start charging people for aiding and abetting, enforce the law. The SNAP program is not perfect, but is not the source of our current problem.
