Drove Illinois in a ditch with his co-conspirators both dem and rep. An outrage-51st in fiscal condition (behind Puerto Rico); #1-2 in corruption; #1-2 in overall tax burden; little governance and oversight of key processes such as property taxes and unemployment payments; outrageous favoritism of public unions over the common taxpayer; entitled “Al Capone” politicians. Progressives took advantage of the dysfunction in the IL Dem party as cracks in Madigan’s armor began to show. Now they are in charge of the party entirely and completely, including all of the levers of power. Their agenda is way far to the left of even the average Democrat in the state. When corruption has been pervasive for 60 years or more, how do we decide whom to prosecute? Those who have “survived” or have been elected and/or prospered this environment must, a priori, have participated in the corruption. If ever we needed a Ministry of Blame to decide whom to pillory — perchance to set an example for future villains — now is the time. One expects that our most influential and “important” citizens have successfully played according to Illinois and Chicago Rules. Now they need to go after all the judges who carried madigans water in the courts. By ruling against valid signature petitions for any referendum, map, recall he didn’t like. I’ll bet you can’t name a single successful case where citizens won against Madigan in the courts. He had everyone in his pocket especially judges.

My concern is the legality of all the bills proposed by lawmakers that were just left to die in committee during Madigan’s tenure in office. Madigan made sure only bills “HE” approved were moved forward. What were in those bills that got Madigan’s death blow? How many bills if moved forward would have helped taxpayers save some money? How many had some type of reforms? Considering that most of the politicians who sponsored the now dead bills are still in office can they get a second look or be reintroduced? That mad dog madigan should have disappeared years ago. But he put a bunch of money in his tiny constituency. Those idiot did not care about the rest of Illinois they got what they wanted out of our pockets. I think you should have an I.Q. over 50 to be able to vote
Your right. If I’m not mistaken his district voted him in as state rep but he is elected by the House as speaker with only 60 votes needed. Someone did not vote for him nce and was stripped of committees he was on. Somebody told me here in Rockford that he has relatives in Madigan’s district and if you did not vote for him (I don’t know how Madigan would know that) that he would have work done unexpectedly and shut off your water or utilities for no reason and make life difficult for you. It very possible it’s true.
The demographics of his district has changed dramatically in the last decade or two, going from primarily irish/polish/white to mostly hispanic. How he managed to keep his grip on power is either through intimidation or outright fraud. After what we witnessed in November of 2020, I now assume every Democrat victory is the result of fraud.

Hasn’t all the pay-to-play campaign $donations$ from everybody from comed, to real-estate lawyers, to $millions in decades of public sector union dues from everybody from ctu to afscme simply moved from Friend of Mike Madigan to Friends of Chris Welch? this is the heart of Illinois corruption problem. Mikie still has an astounding $10.5 mill in his campaign war chests to fight charges for years to come.
