Time To Curb the Violence – RealClear

Almost 3 in 4 voters (72%) decry today’s polarizing political rhetoric as a cause of contemporary violence, and over 4 in 5 state it is unacceptable for their own political party to use violence to achieve its aims.... Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois and others are villainizing the ICE agents in dire language that is an open invitation to violence."

The phrase “bad things happen when good people do nothing” is a common paraphrase of a famous quote often, though mistakenly, attributed to the 18th-century Irish philosopher and statesman Edmund Burke. The most widely circulated version of the quote is:

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

A peer‐reviewed study found that from FY 2018 to FY 2020, there were 38 deaths of individuals in ICE detention. PMC
An update covering FY 2021–2023 reported 12 deaths in ICE custody during that period. PMC
Some advocacy reports estimate “over 210 people” have died in ICE custody since the agency’s inception in 2003. detentionwatchnetwork.org+1
More recently, news outlets report that in 2025 the death toll of detainees has risen sharply. For example one report says “at least 20 people have died in ICE custody so far this year.”

If you would have followed the link – there were 573 homicides in Chicago in 2024 – FOR ONE YEAR. 620 homicides in Chicago in 2023. When does Chicago admit they aren’t handling this well? Blaming ICE is simply transference to try to distract from the Dems not doing their job.

Please Leave Soon,

Did you miss the illegal Guatemalan man sentenced this past week in Champaign County for mowing down and killing two Illinois coeds while driving drunk and then trying to flee the country?!

Advertising & Marketing Impact Studies from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that heavy marketing of alcohol — especially to young people — increases early and… Read more »

With that logic, why can a car go over 80 MPH, it’s illegal everywhere in the USA.
So sue all the auto manufactures as well.

Well, you and AI have managed to blame every one for drunk driving and the deaths of those kids in Champaign…except for the actual illegal immigrant who chose to drink and then drive.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
