Universal health care proposal in Illinois Senate would eliminate private insurance, cover undocumented migrants – WQRF (Rockford)

Mike Simmons, would create the Illinois Health Services Program, a single, state‑administered health care system designed to replace most private insurance and expand access to care statewide. I’ve never been a proponent of burning the state down to save it, but this might be the one time it actually works. The absolute chaos caused by such foolish legislation might be the spark that flips the entire state red. Healthcare in the state would collapse. Within 18 months probably 1/3rd of private practices would close and flee to growing state like TX and FL that have actual shortages of doctors. Rural hospitals that rely mostly on medicaid, and beg for patients with private insurance to fill the gaps, would close within 9 months as operators would just shut… Read more »
