Chicago’s 11th District has had more fatal shootings this year than in all of Minneapolis or other big cities. Mayor Lori Lightfoot says her new budget will address the underlying causes of violence on the West Side, but some activists and aldermen want her to do more.

What could the murderers and murder victims in Chicago’s 11th District possibly have in common with those in Minneapolis?
