Yes, the biggest scam with Amendment 1 is its sold to dullard voter/ taxpayers as applicable to all employees when in fact its only applicable to are public sec union heroes. This excellent Ballopida article from yesterday quotes Illinois Circuit Judge Raylene Grischow of the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court in Sangamon County back in May making it crystal clear Amendment 1 only applies to public sector unions. And maybe private sec chumps could cash in in the fat chance NLRA is overturned nationally. “Grischow also said the amendment had applications that federal law would not preempt: that it “would create… Read more »

How can anyone in press or GOP remain silent on Amendment 1″

Why would the GOP speak out against it? Over 60% of the Senate GOP voted for this to be on the ballot. If the GOP spends anytime bashing this amendment they would then need to answer why they voted for it.

It is quite the con job. The GOP conned you and many others to ignore the bipartisan support of this ballot initiative.

Correct me if I’m wrong, Amendment 1, if passed, does for Illinois public sec workers what the failed Pro Act would have done nationally for all “employees”. would Pro Act, if it had passed, have overturned NLRA? I’m sure, if Amendment 1 passes in Ill similar bills will be attempted in pension bankrupt states like–NJ, Con,Calf, NY,etc

Idea, maybe far fetched…..the few organizations like WP or IPI that care about Amendment 1 could throw in the towel that passing Amendment 1 is a done deal. And then before election, ban together and call the dem machine scam for what it is– a bill for public sec unions only. And then simply launch on a web site where all employed Illinoisans could sign up for free for a union for all employed Illinoisans. Call it the Kwame Raoul All Illinois Union or something, because Attorney General Kwame Raoul has publicly endorsed Amendment 1 and therefore one would assume… Read more »

I hope amendment 1 passes in November. (I left Illinois so I can’t vote.) Wirepoints hopes to avoid an Illinois financial collapse but is also realistic. It feels that Illinois will probably need to collapse before the voters will be open to drastic changes. I also agree that life in Illinois must get considerably worse before the environment will allow a change in direction. I do not hold out hope that the financial collapse can still be avoided, hence my leaving the state. The best realistic outcome for Illinois at this point is to hit rock bottom asap. Amendment 1… Read more »

Just talked to Sen Stadelman(D) at a local health fair and I brought up property tax reform. He said I will be getting $300 if I own a home. I said to him “Up To” not necessarily $300. He then started to talk to the person next to me. I spoke to other vendors and they say it’s a joke that they dangle maybe $300 when their taxes are so high it’s not even funny. I did ask before he cut me off about seniors not paying school taxes since we don’t and won’t ever use them. That would be a… Read more »

A set of state lawmakers want to extend CPS’ current school closing moratorium to February 1, 2027 – the same year CPS is set to transition to a fully-elected school board. That means schools like Manley High School, with capacity for more than 1,000 students but enrollment of just 78, can’t be closed for anther three years. The school spends $45,000 per student, but just 2.4% of students read at grade level.
