Wirepoints disputes poll that favors spending more on education – Center Square

“We have had the biggest increase in spending in the country over the last 15 years,” said Wirepoints President Ted Dabrowski. “No other state has increased spending like we have since 2007, and yet we see no benefits, there’s no accountability, there's no improvement in reading or math, so it’s really money that is just being thrown into a black hole.”

Want to spend more on education? Donate to your favorite school. What’s that? YOU don’t want to spend more on education, you just want the schools to have more money? You heard that teachers are underpaid and all that. They need it, so it should just appear from somewhere.

The voters want more spending on public education and the pointy wire folks don’t. The voters matter not the 9% far right Facebook doom grifters that think we should spend less.

Bill, only somebody who is not in Oswego or anyplace else in Illinois would believe that poll by the teachers’ union. This is one of the oldest gimmicks and widely known in polling. Ask them if they would like to pay higher taxes for more money for schools in a legit poll and you will get an entirely a resounding No. More generally, the policies supported here are hardly far right doom grifters. They are moderate and in line with the majority of Illinoisans, who are also moderate and oppose the radical left that you defend. See https://wirepoints.org/illinois-is-a-moderate-state-its-progressive-leaders-are-out-of-touch-wirepoints/. By the… Read more »

Only an intellectually challenged doom grifter would make an assumption about where I am right now or where I live. More pointy wire ignorance. I am from and currently live in Illinois. It’s unfortunate but predictable that your small brain can’t understand. Keep grifting mark. You won’t change any hearts or minds nor alter any policies but the grift will get you more money from your knuckle dragging followers.

Hey Slick Willy, it’s Mark with a capital M. Since you like to point out the errors of other individuals, I know you will appreciate my pointing this out to you. Now go clean off your own knuckles.

No mistake was made. Doom grifters don’t get a capital. Similar to no capital in white people but one for Blacks.

Can’t admit a mistake Willy? Typical for a CrapFax veteran.

Mark, why do you put up with these idiots and let them spam over and over on here? Ban this piece of trash already. Fatty Rich Miller’s boyfriend the OzTard Willy is only here to anger people with his endless stupidity, and yet you allow it.

Ben, blocking comments from the other side is what the other guys do. Not us. We do ask for substance over name calling, which he needs to fix, but that goes for everybody — you included.

Trolls should be blocked Mark. People who mainly want to name call and anger people should be blocked. PPF and OzTard are both trolls. I am letting them have it since you won’t. They deserve it.

Anyone who parrots fat slob JB by saying the dorky and cheesy saying of doom grifter is an immediate idiot.

Your IP address says where you are, unless you use a VPN for cover, which maybe you need given your name-calling ways.

“pointy wire” I would just like to point out that the hairy slob known as Rich Miller likes to say pointy wire. This is an insult only a five year old would think of, or an alcoholic public union slob. The OzTard is either parroting his fat boss or he is in fact Rich Miller himself.

Keep grifting mark.” You should have typed Mark, not mark. Pretty huge grammar mistake OzTard. Capitalization is learned in kindergarten.

This is a problem that can easily be solved. Charge tuition! When the parents see the bill like they do in private K-12 schools they will realize costs to educate children are way too high. Send the parents of Chicago public schools a bill for $29K per child and see what they say. They can then get reimbursed part of the tuition with what the state requires for minimum per pupil costs are. People are clueless to what is being spent to educate. When it says education shall be free does it matter what the cost is? Only if you… Read more »

I agree with your premise, but it’s not legally possible to impose a “tuition” fee for enrolling as a student in IL public education. Call it something else and specific to the extra user charges in taking the classes desired, and those sorts of charges are allowable as is commonly the case, however. If/when a parent has some obvious and immediate expense associated with a child’s education most will start taking better ownership of the value received presumably and act accordingly. Things received as “free” are seldom valued to nearly the same extent as when you KNOW you have to… Read more »

You are correct but if it were to become legal all parents would know the true cost in their school to educate a child. How much push back to the expense would there be if they have to pay up front? Anything we buy with a rebate attached to it we must pay up front then apply for the rebate like the ones Com Ed gives out if you buy an efficient appliance. It still comes to there is too much emphasis for funding comes from real estate. There must be a better way. P.S. Another eye surgery tomorrow this… Read more »

Obviously you have great anxiety about your vision and even having to be partially awake during your operation. My wife has a set of vision problems as well—a macular hole in her right eye and macular degeneration in her left. She can still do reading but needs and prefers enlarged fonts or old-school magnification. Mostly she can still do nearly everything that needs doing to include driving but strives to avoid areas and times when traffic is dense or fast. We both know how stressful that is on a daily basis and wish you the best!

Thank you for your kind words. Have you heard of Saffron for Macular degeneration There is some promise as a treatment. Here is some info. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/how-much-saffron-should-i-take-for-macular-degeneration#dosage https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30343354/ Always speak to your Ophthalmologist if they know any benefits before trying. Always look what the side effects are and any interaction with other naturals or medications and never try without doctors approval. I know that my left eye got large floaters and now cataracts from most likely all the drops I was putting in my right eye which made their way to my left eye via small ducts at the bridge of… Read more »

Thank you! In general she’s knowledgable about that problem, but she did ask me to send your link to learn what’s the story there.

Maybe IL needs to pull back on real estate taxes and rely on higher income taxes or some combination of taxes generally. As you’ve said a few times paying property taxes implicitly requires your income always to be able to cover it, and growing older generally means a person’s income is reduced upon retirement unless luck, planning or a combo pack say otherwise. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all if the user parents of public education students had fee hikes as part of any reduced real estate tax that might result. As I said earlier, if a person has… Read more »

Don’t forget the same lawmakers who are ‘defending’ Chicago’s selective enrollment schools also ended school choice – Wirepoints on AM 560 Chicago’s Morning Answer

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about Chicago’s latest bond offering, why Chicago’s dismal home value growth is due to poor policies, the next $70 million to be spent on migrants, the 9% salary hikes demanded by the CTU, and why Illinois lawmakers voting to stop Chicago’s selective enrollment schools from being closed is hypocritical.
