“(T)he balance is out of whack. Private sector workers, many of them laid off or out of work due to the pandemic, are still paying taxes to support their public sector counterparts. It is long overdue to implement the ‘shared sacrifice’ our politicians often promise.”
The ordinance the City Council passed removes reference to gender from the liquor license statutes governing how much flesh can be shown by performers in various Chicago establishments.

At Mayor Lightfoot’s request, Police Supt. David Brown hand-delivered a letter from the mayor to Barr on Wednesday. In that letter, Lightfoot decried the “continuous stream of misinformation coming from the White House about Chicago.”
“But obviously this is a different time, and I don’t expect to see mass crowds of trick-or-treating like we have in years past,” Lightfoot said. “It’s not safe for children. It’s not safe for adults.”
“We’ve seen in other states that cap the number of available licenses there’s been charges of corruption from people trying to buy off the regulators and game the system to get higher scores,” Reason Foundation’s Director of Drug Policy Geoffrey Lawrence said. A free market would regulate how many cannabis businesses customers would support and would keep prices down and provide more choice for consumers.

Locally, the latest breakdown of arrests shows 102 arrests which includes 27 for narcotics-related crimes, 72 charged with firearms-related crimes and four others have been charged with other violent crimes.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of increased property taxes to fund the police and the fire pension funds which are separate items. The city now has a public safety pension fee attached to its sewer bill, but that’s set to expire next year.
In total, the complaint alleges coroner Bill Hintz and his wife misused $15,818.88 of county dollars. It also alleges he created multiple forged documents which he delivered to the county with hopes of deceiving it.
