Officials with the Chicago Teachers Union argued Monday that the halting of the universal masking requirement at Chicago Public Schools last month violated their COVID-19 safety agreement by rescinding a key tenet of the plan without reopening collective bargaining. CTU also accused CPS in the complaint of not adhering to the safety deal by allegedly withholding information such as the number of KN95 masks distributed to schools; school-level data on COVID-19 tests conducted through the district’s free weekly program; and confirmation of the creation of school-based contact-tracing teams.

Mask mandates in Illinois hospitals, doctors’ offices not going anywhere, for now – Chicago Tribune*

Illinois is not considering lifting its mandate for hospitals and other health care settings “at the moment,” said spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “We would mandate it anyway,” said Dr. Richard Freeman, regional chief clinical officer for Loyola Medicine. “Anybody in the hospital, all our personnel are still masked, visitors still have to be masked. That is not going to change in the foreseeable future.”

Lincoln Park Neighbors Look To Hire Private Security Firm To Patrol Streets, Raising Concerns From Some – Block Club Chicago

The group’s flyer said it hopes to address these crimes by partnering with private security firm P4 to deploy one officer in a marked vehicle to patrol their streets for eight hours a day, every day of the year, according to the flyer. P4 Security already patrols another area of Lincoln Park, and the firm was hired in December to patrol a section of Bucktown.
