We’re often asked if we ever tire of fighting for Illinois.
Whether it’s on crime, the economy, corruption, parents’ rights, budgets and much more, we’re going to continue to tell you what you need to know.
Take education, for example. When government officials said student achievement shows “great promise,” we ran the numbers showing only 3 out of 10 students statewide can read at grade level, and that the numbers only worsened during the state’s draconian lockdowns.
But our efforts to speak the truth take resources. And for that, we’re asking for your financial support.
You can help us do even more. Can you make a tax-deductible donation of $50, $100, $250 or more?
The examples below are just a fraction of the falsehoods Wirepoints has torn down:
When they said it doesn’t matter that companies like Boeing, Caterpillar and Citadel are leaving the state, we highlighted how Illinois is losing the competition for people and their wealth and the damage those losses cause.
When they said Illinois’ economy is strong, we showed how poorly the state is performing on unemployment (2nd-worst), jobs (7th-worst) and government dependency (6th-worst) compared to the rest of the nation.
When they said Amendment 1 would improve Illinois, we showed how locking-in union-friendly labor laws will cripple any attempt at pension, property tax or education reform.
When they said their “responsible budgeting” fixed Illinois’ financial issues, we showed how the federal government’s near-$200 billion bailout has temporarily papered over the state’s problems.
When they said crime isn’t a problem, we highlighted the 34 percent rise in Chicago crime and the damage done to law-abiding residents in Rockford, Aurora and more.
When supporters of the status quo said CRT isn’t taught in schools, we highlighted the state’s political CRTL teaching standards and the controversial sex ed materials being pushed on students.
When they said their draconian Covid policies saved lives, we showed how other states better protected both lives and livelihoods without infringing on Americans’ freedoms.
When they said reforming Illinois’ $500 billion pension crisis is a fantasy, we laid out the full case for why reforms are not only legal, but necessary to fix Illinois.
The more we tell the truth, the stronger our case for reforms becomes.
Help Wirepoints research more issues, publish more stories and counter more narratives so that Illinoisans can learn the truth and start turning this state around.

With $162 billion more from taxpayers, couldn’t you deliver a few bond upgrades, too
Audio and summary
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Thank you for fighting the good fight but the efforts of Wirepoints trying to expose the big lie of Democrats really didn’t have too much of an effect. Amendment 1 passed, SAFE T almost passed in its entirety, democrats swept statewide elections, ILSC now 5-2 to guarantee a democratic stranglehold, Covid emergency orders from Pritzger still flowing, crime out of control in Chicago so the democrats will make innocent gun owners criminals, never ending gas taxes etc. As long as Chicago/Cook County voters have their heads stuck up their behinds and cant see the destruction of liberal democrats policies Illinois… Read more »
This site and others have pointed to low student performance as proof that somehow it’s the schools and the teachers fault vs assigning blame to the students and their families. People are just basing those assumptions from student performance. Well if we follow that same logic, then Wirepoints has been an utter failure based on the results you have so clearly outlined. I obviously don’t think this is the way to determine success or failure but if we are being consistent then WP, Illinois Policy and the GOP have been utter failures and we must look for alternatives if we… Read more »
LOL, you must be a CPS graduate. Super huge fail here. Teachers are paid $$$ and school systems are set up to spend $$$$$$$ of tax dollars to educate students.
Why even bother having a public education system if the teachers/board/administrators, all paid $$$$ can just throw up the white flag and say “not our fault!” when students fail
Lets just lower the child labor law working age to 7 and dispense with this entire public education system alltogether.
LOL
It’s like having a hospital where every treatment fails. “Not our fault! It the patients!”
Or a museum with no artifacts…”not our fault! it’s the visitors!”
Or a church with no spirituality..”not our fault! it’s the chuchgoers!”
And so on
If your doctor tells you to lose weight and prescribes fewer calories and more exercise but you don’t exercise and continue to eat crap, is it the doctors fault? Of course not. There are standards that are used when treating patients. If the patient doesn’t respond to the course of therapy that doesn’t make it the doctors fault.
Teachers can’t perform miracles with people that don’t put in the effort. Is the police officer responsible for a rise in crime? Could be but the results by themselves don’t provide enough data.
I’m sorry you are lacking in critical thinking skills.
The citizens prescribed a balanced budget.
They did? When did a candidate run on that and win? Why did the voters elect the same people if that was the case?
No the residents of Illinois continue their desire to keep their head in the sand. They don’t want to hear that more taxes are needed to balance the budget. So instead their elected officials give them exactly what they want, lies. The fiscally responsible prescribe a balanced budget while the residents keep stuffing their face and sitting on the couch.
PPF and the likes of you are the kiss of death for Illinois. It is now DOA. The money people are fleeing in droves. Best of luck greedy SOB as Illinois is dying a slow death as we speak. Say whatever you want but the money just will not be there to pay for the greedy government employees. Eat your own young for all I care.
Easy on the insults, please.
Balanced budget amendment.
Ted & Mark, keep up the good work. Many topics you cover as “current” I lived thru in Detroit. I don’t want my 2nd home going there. Happy New Year to you both.
I am grateful to Wirepoints giving us honest, objective journalism, exposing the truths that need to be told, and for providing an outlet to voice our opinions, frustrations, ideas and more. Thank you very much for your commitment, hard work and dedication to revealing the truth. My donation is on its way.
I hope everyone can donate something to Wirepoints!! Thank you for all your great work Mark, Ted, John, Matt, Joanna & Julie!!! Thank you for fighting for everyday folks in a city & state of self-serve politics/ interests!!
You have done a great job reporting on Illinois. Now it’s time to stop saying Illinois is a great state worth saving. Focus more on getting the remaining conservatives and independents out to a red state where their votes can do some good.
Happy New Year Wirepoints community.
I think it’s wrong to summarize our views as being “Illinois is a great state worth saving.” I would ask you to consider our full view on that, which is here: https://wirepoints.org/is-illinois-worth-fighting-for-quicktake/ . I think maybe I should do a New Year piece on why pessimism should be a cause of optimism.
“I think maybe I should do a New Year piece on why pessimism should be a cause of optimism.”
And I’ll write a comment about how up is really down. Seriously Mark, I look forward to reading it.
You are pissing in the wind, best of luck getting anything done. I think it is only getting worse.
Yes. And those who stay will fund the nonsense.
We agree that it will get worse. I would ask that you read our views on this more closely: https://wirepoints.org/is-illinois-worth-fighting-for-quicktake/
