As Illinois politicians target wealthy residents to fund Chicago and the state, many millionaires are taking their money to greener pastures across state lines.

Even if you’re not a millionaire, the best thing you can do for your family is to leave Illinois. It is not going to get any better anytime soon. Taxes and crime are going up and services are going down. Some of the highest taxes and a deficit in the local, county and state budgets. A Pension debt that is impossible to pay for and will keep economic growth down for generations to come. Tax and spend is what the politicians will continue to do.

So the best thing people can do is save a few bucks and move away from their family and friends? Some people value the life they built more than a couple of dollars.

This is a huge problem, and nobody wants to talk about it. Look what happened to the South Suburbs from the mid 1960s to now. All the small businesses left. University of Chicago employees, Amoco Oil execs, all the lawyers and insurance execs who took the IC railroad downtown every day– they all left. It happened because of high property taxes, flat property values, workers comp costs for small businesses, public high schools slipping in rankings year by year, and scary crime problems on the expressways trying to get into the city. It would be more accurate instead of calling them millionaires to refer to them as small business owners who employ the local labor force. And people complain about chain restaurants but these are local people who buy a franchise and employ people in the neighborhood.

No one likes to be gouged. Have to lower taxes to a reasonable level. Unfortunately, the public sector unions are always demanding more money, and the politicians sell out the taxpayer every time.
